Rifle and Pistol Range Rules

PISTOL / RIFLE Range Rules

1. RANGES USE IS RESTRICTED TO MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS ONLY.
2. ALL MEMBERS SHALL WEAR THEIR CLUB MEMBERSHIP BADGE WHEN ON CLUB PROPERTY AND ARE PROHIBITED
FROM GIVING THEIR MEMBERSHIP BADGE OR LOCK COMBINATIONS TO NON-MEMBERS.
3. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR DRUGS ARE ALLOWED ON CLUB GROUNDS OR WITHIN CLUB BUILDINGS.
4. ALL MEMBERS ARE SAFETY OFFICERS. IF YOU SEE AN UNSAFE ACT PLEASE CALL A CEASEFIRE, IDENTIFY THE INVOLVED
INDIVIDUAL (IF SAFE TO DO SO) AND / OR REPORT THE INCIDENT TO A CLUB OFFICER.
5. ALL SHOOTERS MUST WEAR EYE AND EAR PROTECTION AT ALL TIMES.
6. NO SHOOTING BEFORE 8:00 AM MONDAY – SATURDAY OR BEFORE 9:30 AM ON SUNDAY. ALL RANGES ARE CLOSED
AT SUNSET.
7. FULL AUTO OR BUMP FIRING IS PROHIBITED EXCEPT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL OR WITH PERMISSION FROM
THE BOD
8. EXPLODING TARGETS, TRACER, AND STEEL CORE AMMUNITION (ON STEEL TARGETS) ARE PROHIBITED.
9. WHEN HANDLING A FIREARM THE MUZZLE IS TO BE POINTED DOWN RANGE AT ALL TIMES.
10. ALL SHOOTING ON THE RIFLE RANGE IS RESTRICTED TO THE DESIGNATED SHOOTING BENCHES OR DESIGNATED
SHOOTING AREAS.
11. THE RIFLE RANGE IS FOR TARGETS SET AT 100 YARDS OR MORE.
12. SHOTGUNS SLUGS, RIFLES AND MUZZEL LOADERS ARE ALLOWED ON THE DESIGNATED PISTOL RANGE FOR SHOOTING
AT 50 YARDS AND UNDER.
13. ALL BULLETS FIRED ON THE RIFLE AND PISTOL RANGES MUST IMPACT A BERM OR AN APPROVED STEEL, PLASTIC
(SELF SEALING TYPE) OR PAPER TARGET SET UP IN FRONT OF A BERM. ALL TARGETS SHOULD BE PLACED AT PROPER
LEVEL TO ALLOW BULLETS TO PASS THROUGH OR PAST THE TARGET AND IMPACT A BERM DIRECTLY BEHIND THE TARGET.
14. ALL SHOOTING MUST STOP ON A RANGE WHEN ANYONE GOES DOWN RANGE. THIS SHOULD BE DONE EVERY 15 MINUTES
OR WHEN REQUESTED BY A MEMBER.
15. MEMBERS MUST ACTIVATE THE COLD RANGE INDICATOR PRIOR TO GOING DOWN RANGE.
16. NO ONE SHOULD GO DOWN RANGE UNITL EVERYONE ON THE FIRING LINE ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE RANGE IS COLD.
17. NO ONE IS TO HANDLE A FIREARM FOR ANY REASON WHEN SOMEONE IS DOWN RANGE.
18. WHEN MEMBERS ARE DOWN RANGE, ALL FIREARMS ARE TO BE UNLOADED AND/OR HOLSTERED AND/OR LAYING
ON THE BENCH WITH ACTION OPEN, CHAMBER EMPTY AND THE MUZZLE POINTED DOWN RANGE AND/OR PLACED
IN A PROVIDED RIFLE RACK.
19. NO FIREARM IS TO BE LEFT UNATTENDED UNLESS THE WEAPON IS UNLOADED, ACTION IS OPEN, MAGAZINE REMOVED
AND THE CHAMBER EMPTY.
20. MEMBERS MUST ACTIVATE THE HOT RANGE INDICATOR PRIOR TO STARTING TO SHOOT.
21. SHOOTING MAY RESUME ONLY AFTER EVERYONE ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE RANGE IS NOW GOING HOT.
22. NO SHOOTING AT:
a. CLUB PROPERTY (TRASH CANS, EQUIPMENT, SIGNS, ETC.).
b. THE GROUND, POND, OR ROCKS; BULLETS CAN SKIP. THIS CAN CAUSE A RICOCHET.
c. PLASTIC OR GLASS BOTTLES, TIN CANS, JUGS OR ANY OTHER HOUSEHOLD ITEM.
d. ONLY APPROVED PAPER, PLASTIC (SELF SEALING TYPE), CLAY TARGETS AND STEEL TARGETS ARE ALLOWED.
23. CLAY TARGETS MAY ONLY BE SHOT TO THE RIGHT OF RIFLE RANGE COVERED SHOOTING AREA.
PICK UP ALL SHOTGUN SHELLS.
24. ALL PERSONAL TARGETS ARE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE RANGE WHEN SHOOTING IS COMPLETED.
25. PRIVATELY OWNED VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED ON THE RIFLE RANGE TO SET AND CHECK TARGETS. **ACTIVATE THE
COLD RANGE INDICATOR IF DRVING DOWN RANGE FOR ANY REASON.
26. ALL TRASH, INCLUDING YOUR BRASS, MUST BE PICKED UP AND THROWN AWAY IN A TRASH BIN.
EXTENDED RIFLE RANGE YARD RULES: YOU MUST OBEY OR YOU WILL NOT SHOOT!!
27. MEMBERS SHALL COMPLETE A LONG RANGE ORIENTATION BEFORE SHOOTING ON THIS RANGE.
28. MEMBERS SHALL OBSERVE / UTILIZE “BLUE SKY” MUZZLE LIMITER WHEN PRESENT.
29. MEMBERS MUST FOLLOW THE LONG RANGE SCHEDULE FOR USE OF THIS RANGE.
30. NO SHOOTING FROM THE DESIGNATED LONG RANGE ELEVATED SHOOTING AREAS IF MEMBERS ARE SHOOTING
FROM THE COVERED RIFLE RANGE SHOOTING AREA.
31. WHEN YOU LEAVE THE RANGE OR THE CLUB HOUSE, IF NO ONE ELSE IS PRESNET, CLOSE AND LOCK THE GATE
AND LOCK THE CLUB HOUSE DOOR.
